Mitas Dominates American Tractor Pulling Competitions
The origins of a sport that now attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators in the USA can be traced back to the Czech town of Litovel. The drivers themselves create unique tire tread patterns before races.
Mitas tires have made an indelible mark on the history of this year's Championship Pull and Winter Nationals tractor pulling events in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
Tractor pulling is an exciting motorsports event in which modified tractors compete
to see who can pull multi-ton weights the furthest distance. The keys to victory are not only engine power but also the balance of the tractor and the type of tires used.
The competitors who placed first, second, and third all had Mitas Powerpull 24.5-32 tires on their machines and dominated the Pro Stocks class.

Tractor Pulling is a fun, competitive event that draws tens of thousands of riders and spectators to stadiums in the U.S. every year. Also known as "Agricultural F1" in Europe, tractor pulling also has a large fan base in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

A unique feature of the Mitas Powerpull tires is that the tread pattern is carved by the drivers themselves. "They get a slick tire from us, but it is specially modified so they can create their own tread," explains Mitas global marketing director Kristina Farris. "These special tires are customized specifically for the event. It comes down to the drivers’ creativity, skill and knowledge. A well-chosen tread design impacts traction and grip on the track surface, so it plays a significant role in the race," Farris said.

Although tractor pulling is very popular today, especially in the USA and the Netherlands, the first event actually took place in 1913 in Litovel, which was then part of Austria-Hungary and is now the Czech Republic. After World War II, with the increased use of tractors, boulder pulling competitions were held, and out of this, the sport was born. In the USA, the first known tractor competitions were held in 1929 in Missouri and Kentucky.
