Mitas tyre applications
Radial tyre technology delivers substantial benefits to the agricultural industry. The properties of radial tyres help farmers achieve better productivity, efficiency and higher yield.
Tyre construction
Diagonal tyre
A pneumatic tyre in which the ply cords extend to the beads and are laid at alternate angles less than 90° to the center line of the tread.
Radial ply tyre
A pneumatic tyre in which the ply cords extend to the beads and are laid at 90° to the centre line of the tread. The inextensible circumferential belt stabilizes the tyre carcass.
Agricultural applications – radial tyres
We offer a wide range of tyres for almost every piece of equipment and application – from high-horsepower tractors to massive harvesters, from field preparation to harvest.
Our extensive line of radial agricultural tyres offers solutions to all your needs, from our HC (High Capacity Tyres) and SFT (Super Flexion Tyres) series or our wide footprint HC 70 and AC 65 series tyres to our AC 85 and AC 90 series for row-crop applications.
The development of the SST (Silent Speed Tyres), connects the outstanding field characteristics of a 65 series wide tyre with high comfort. Because the SST’s noise level in the operator’s cab is reduced to a minimum, the High Capacity Tyres. The HC (High Capacity Tyres) and SFT (Super Flexion Tyres) were developed primarily for powerful machines with over 180 hp. The extremely large volume of air ensures gentle ground handling when working with heavy loads. The new harvester tyres HC 3000 and SFT CHO have are designed as extremely powerful tyres for large combine harvesters. HC 3000 and SFT CHO are capable of higher maximum loads; at the same time the tyre permits gentler ground handling in the field and more comfort on the road. For tractors with up to 200 hp, the Mitas range of radial tyres offers a wide selection of all-rounders. The 85 series standard radial AC 85 is ideally suited for wide-ranging applications in the field and on the road. The HC 70, the new wide tyre in the 70 series has higher load capacities than other tyres in the segment and therefore offers gentler ground handling and heavy load capacity. The AC 65 is a wide tyre with a 65% aspect ratio and is the ideal choice in this tractor segment, where it‘s about gentle ground handling and the ability to transport heavy loads, as well as traction and grassland suitability. The AC 70 G is the dedicated grassland tyre in the Mitas range. The AC 70 T is particularly suited for heavy field work. In the smaller sizes it has proved itself in vine cultivation and fruit growing.

“L” series type tyres
“L” series type tyres are used on all size loaders and dozers in off-road applications. Most loader type tyres, because of their extremely heavy construction, are limited to very low speeds and very short haul distances, 10km/h and 250 m maximum.
“L” series tyres are categorized by number code, type and tread depth.
Number code | Type | Tread depth |
L-2 | Traction Design | Regular Tread Depth |
L-3 | Rock Design | Regular Tread Depth |
Below are examples of Mitas “L” Series tyres
The letter designation and number code is found on the sidewalls of tyres. The L-2 traction design tyre gives maximum traction in sand and soft soil conditions. The L-3 rock design offers good traction and rock resistance in general purpose loader operations.
These illustrations show different lug to void ratios
Mitas has also developed comparison ratings for “L” series type tyres. Note: The numbers are relative ratings with the L-3 tyre rated at 100. For example, the L-2 tyre has 20 % better traction than the L-3. Certain tyre construction features and applications can affect these ratings.
The data below could vary from operation and / or from size to size of tyre.
Traction | Rock resistance | Tread wear | Lug to Void ratio | |
L-2 | 120 | 90 | 90 | 1 : 1 |
L-3 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 1 : 2 |
